Dr. Sreelima Poonthottam & Dr. Mridul Poonthottam

Dr. Mridul belongs to ‘Poonthottam Mana’, which has a long and legendary history and reputation in dance, literature, painting, folk arts, and classical Ayurvedic science. The Mana is located in Killikkurussimangalam (Lakkidi) of Palakkad District, famous as the birthplace of Kunjan Nambiar and Mani Madhava Chakyar.

Legacy & Heritage

Mridul’s grandfather is late Sri. Poonthottathu Manakkal Sankara Narayanan Namboothiri, a well-known teacher of Sanskrit, scholar, and author. His father Sri. P.M.S Chandramohan has maintained and enhanced the reputation of Sanskrit scholarship. He has authored several books in Malayalam dealing with Sanskrit, Tantra, and Yoga.

Mridul’s mother Smt. Ushadevi belongs to Eakkad Mana, a famous Tantrik family near Pattambi. She was instrumental in developing in him an appreciation for Sanskrit and Music from a tender age.

Specialisation & Training

By July 2010 he moved to Ullannoor Mana for acquiring skills in Visha Vaidyam (Toxicology) from the renowned Vimala Antharjanam and Ashtanga Hridayam in detail from her son Bhrahmadattan Namboothiri under the traditional Gurukula Sampradaayam.

In 2011 he moved to Sunetri Ayurvedasram, Thrissur to obtain deep knowledge in Netra Chikitsa (Ophthalmology) in Ayurveda under Dr. Prasad and served as Resident Medical Officer.

The Path to the Present

In 2014, Dr. Mridul married Dr. Sreelima, his colleague at Poonthottam Ayurvedasram. Both completed their Post Graduation Diploma in Yoga from Annamalai University, Chidambaram.

Their intense desire to establish a center for Ayurvedic treatment led to the founding of Ayushpathy Ayurvedasram and Yoga Centre at Muttil, Wayanad, practicing a truly holistic approach in Ayurveda.
